Summary

My topic is “The songs worth sharing,” because singing is an indispensable part in my life.

I believe that almost every didn’t read my tenth article, since we didn’t need to write or read the tenth post. But I had already prepared what I want to write as the last article, so I still post it.

The reason why I want to post it is: The vocal, “Dankohana,” is a Taiwanese-American. She uses English as her main language, but she interests in singing the Japanese song, so she can speak in three languages. As a result, I think her song is a perfect ending of my blog since I introduce Chinese and Japanese songs in English. 

The English song named ”Letter Song,” also can be called ”Dearest myself in ten years.” It is a letter that written to ourselves after 10 years.

Deeply touched by this song, I even launched an activity when graduating from high school: All classmates in my class wrote letters to themselves after 7 years and put they into a box buried in the mountain at our school, and we'll come back to dig it out after 7 years.

In the past few weeks, I introduced 10 songs to you. Actually I shared not only songs I love, but also something I interest in. Including, the TV program (The voice of China), network singers, the anime website (Niconico), the game (Minecraft), the novel (Tomb Note), the movie (Frozen). To me, the blogger is more like a platform to share my interests than just a homework. I enjoy writing it, and hope you could enjoy reading it also.

Letter Song

What kind of life you will live after 10 years?

I know that I don’t need to write a new article this week, but I had already prepared what to write as the last article. 

The song named ”Letter Song,” also can be called ”Dearest myself in ten years.” It is a letter that written to ourselves after 10 years.

The vocal, “Dankohana,” is a Taiwanese-American. She uses English as her main language, but she interests in singing the Japanese song, so she can speak in three languages. As a result, I think her song is a perfect ending of my blog since I introduce Chinese and Japanese songs in English.

It may have something strange in lyrics or on tempo because it is original Japanese song.

A few months ago, the Disney movie “Frozen” went viral among all ages, and almost everyone had heard its OST(Original Sound Track). When it comes to this movie, “Let it Go” is the first thing that comes to mind. But it is too common to introduce, so I want to pay attention to another one “Love is an Open Door” in Japanese.

The background story is that when Anna first met Prince Hans, she fell in love immediately. It is a lovely duet song, but the singer, Ikasan, sang the man’s and woman’s voices by herself. Maybe you think that is no big deal, but the more surprising is that the man’s voice is her real voice.

Ikasan is a network singer on Niconico website, featuring her special voice. Although she is totally a high school girl, her male-voice is better than some real men, and I really like her voice. When Ikasan just made her debut, she sang almost every works with male-voice; now she progress her female-voice (sounds strange, lol), and even can sing eight kinds of different voice in one song, I still like the original one and remember the shock she gave me with it.

OAOA

This song is really famous, even those who never follow Chinese music also have heard it.

Flumpool is to Japan what Mayday is to Taiwan.

Flumpool is a band composed of four people in Japan, and their music style is similar to Mayday’s, so that they have many cooperation works, and they even have performed together on the same stage in Japan. 

OAOA is one of their cooperation.

Actually I prefer to he Japanese version more, because it is just somehow cooler when a song is sung in Japanese and I prefer to soft voice. But it can’t be denied that Mayday version are more able to heat our blood, no matter its lyrics or accompaniment are more aroused, especially its drumbeat.

Both versions are conveying an idea that making people pursue their dream bravely. But Flumpool tell us that our dream will come true someday in the future, while Mayday emphasis on putting it in practice immediately and seizing the moment. That is why the latter is more powerful.

Although this song is well-known, do you know what "OAOA” means?

Spirit Contract

Warning: The lyrics involve a bit of the romantic between boys. Maybe some people don’t like it.

This song is divided to two parts and separately sung by two network singers.

The first part performed with piano is slow, negative, and full of loneliness; while the second part performed with guitar is lively, positive, cheering somebody (the first singer) up.

The two parts have the same melody, and both are sung softly by two male-singers, but because of the different performing ways, they have totally different style.

Its background story is about a novel “Tomb Note,” and it has been my favorite novel for years. It belongs to adventure novels and talks about the protagonists rob graves and seek for secrets, although there are lots of dangers, they want to reach the truth. The novel features the delicate depiction of the intricate plots and especially the sinister of human’s heart.

“More terrible than the ghosts, is the heart.”

The song is one of my favorites, I had looped it again and again for one more week ever.

Which style you like more? To me, the second part is more attractive. 

Miracle

Sometimes, a human is more brutal than a brute.

The singer, Uemura Kana, is a female singer in Japan. Maybe she is not so famous that few people know her, but she still sang movingly in this song.

The story is a adapted version of Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf, and the video title is “Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Tender Wolf.” 

Although the song is great, why I love this video is not because of the song, but because of the story.

Little red cap met the tender wolf in forest, and they became good friends soon. However, unlike the fairy tale, little red cap’s grandma is cruel. So, the wolf killed her grandma to protect her. As a result, the wolf was put to death by bloody villagers.

It sounds like a sad story, in fact, it is. 

But if you concentrated enough, you would find it could be interpreted in two different ways:

One is a bad ending, the wolf is dead and Little red cap is grieved, as most people can see. Another is a happy ending, the story is actually flashback, the wolf is alive and they live a happy life. 

We can prove the latter ending by Little red cap’s bandage on her face. 

On my opinion, I think the second one is the real ending because it reflects the song title “Miracle.”

Minecraft – Revenge

I know I said that I’ll focus on Chinese and Japanese, but it is reasonable to put one English song in my blog, right?

Have you ever played the game “Minecraft?”

Maybe you have heard it before, because it is famous. It is my favorite game ever, and I have played it for years. Today I'll share a song about it.

First of all, I want to introduce the guy: Creeper, who is a monster in the game, and he always appears behind us, then blows up without our awareness. That’s why he is the most impressive monster in Minecraft, even can represent the game, as the setting is really loathsome! Especially when you just collect lots of precious mineral. And this is the situation that the song describes.

Believe that you can totally understand if you have played the game.

The video is really interesting and inspirational(?). Initially, I watched it for fun, but then the pleasant voice attracted me immediately. The song is adapted from” DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love.”

This week comes to Mayday again! There is no denying that their songs can really sing into people’s minds and bring out people’s emotions. This one is no exception. Today I will share the version covered by Tang Tsz-Kei, a famous singer because of the China TV program " I am a Singer." Although she is a controversial singer, her talent can’t be ignored.

The song title is related to homophonic in Japanese, maybe someone can help me translate it better.

Did you hear three kinds of voices of boy and girls? Actually, there is just one person, and she sing three different voices. It is why I want to share it with you, not only because it sounds great, but also because the vocal can sing two or more voices of different gender without incongruity. How amazing!

The female vocal, “96-neko,” whose pronunciation in Japanese is same as “black cat,” is a network singer just like last week one, but she acts on the Japanese anime website “Niconico.” Although it is a anime website, you can still find lots of great creative music and interesting videos on it.

The background of this song is a Japanese role-playing game (RPG) named ”Ib.” A little girl, Ib, visit art gallery with her family one day, and was stuck in the world of painting suddenly. Then she met a gentle man, Garry, and a mysterious girl, Marry, and they tried to find way out of the horrible galley together.

If you want to experience the feeling of horror in a adorable style without blood or scary ghost, try this game, Ib.

A Cup of Heaven

Hey, guys! Thank you for reading my second article. This song is also a covered version, but this time is a man cover a woman’s song. “A Cup of Heaven” is originally performed by Yan-Yi Dan, and it is the ending song of “Scarlet Heart,” a court drama of China.

Most people know that the life in palace is boring and depressed, since she was stuck in the small place and saw the same view from day to day, not to mention that her husband was not belong to her alone. Such a terrible place , However, because her lover was here, the place was a heaven to her. That is why the song is named “A Cup of Heaven.”

It was my first time to know that a man could sing more softly than a woman. 
Walker is a network singer, and he is one of my favorite singers. Maybe just few people know him, because he doesn’t like most singers, acting in public usually. But he has undeniable strength. He doesn’t need the advertising to promote himself; he doesn’t need exposure to make people know him; he doesn’t need a glamorous appearance to catch people’s eyes. What he has is a good voice, and it’s enough. In my opinion, many network singers will not lose to pop singers.

Eternal Summer

Hi, everyone. Welcome to my blog. The first song I recommend is “Eternal Summer,” in order to catch the tail of summer in time. 

I believe that many people know this song, because it was originally performed by Mayday, a well-known band. But today I want to share is another version which was covered by Chen Bing, a competitor of the singing show named “The Voice of China.”

Although they sang the same song, but there is a great difference between them. Mayday sang the repressed emotions and released slowly and gradually. But Chen Bing performed it in a powerful way, she burst out the momentum and showed that no one could stop her.

Summer vacation usually is the most colorful period time in a year. And this summer might be your longest and unforgettable one ever, you could do all what you wanted to do but no time to do before. But maybe you didn’t do anything because  of others’ opinions. And that is what Mayday want to tell us: “Don’t let others bother you and be yourself without fear.”
